Commodore 64 - 25th Anniversary Celebration
![]() |
Aciklama: [Recorded Dec 10, 2007]
The Commodore 64 was an 8-bit home computer released by Commodore International in August, 1982, and during it's lifetime (between 1982 and 1994), sales totaled close to 17 million units, making it the best-selling single personal computer model of all time. Approximately 10,000 commercial software titles were developed for the Commodore 64 including development tools, office applications, and games.
The C64 made an impressive debut at the 1982 Winter Consumer Electronics Show, as recalled by Production Engineer David A. Ziembicki: All we saw at our booth were Atari people with their mouths dropping open, saying, 'How can you do that for $595?'
The term personal computer was a common term in the early 80's and was used as early as 1972 to characterize Xerox PARC's Alto. During this era of microcomputer innovation, the market was dominated by the IBM Personal Computer (IBM PC), the Commodore 64, the Atari 8-bit family, the Apple II, Tandy Corporation's TRS-80s, and various CP/M machines.
Although the history of the Commodore is rich, the histories of the people and the companies that developed these early personal computers are also critical to the personal productivity tools and business solutions we often take for granted in our daily lives.
This panel discussion is a celebration of the Commodore 64 computer and how it spawned a tremendous market for home, small business, distributed and networked technology. |

Aciklama: THE ANNIVERSARY SONG
( The following is from Wikipedia )
The Anniversary Song, also known as "The Waves of the Danube"(Valurile Dunării), was written by Ion Ivanovici(born 1845 in Timişoara, died in September 28, 1902), a Romanian composer. This piece was created especially for the 1889 Paris Exposition and became a hit. As a popular song it is played by the brass orchestras in the city gardens all over Romania, at the weddings and all high society gatherings.
It was introduced in the western world by Al Jolson and Saul Chaplin and published in 1946 as their own composition.
The song was recorded by a number of artists in late 1946 or 1947, several of the versions making the Top 10 song charts.
The recording by Al Jolson was released by Decca Records as catalog number 23714. It first reached the Billboard magazine charts on February 7, 1947 and lasted 14 weeks on the chart, peaking at #2.
The recording by Tex Beneke and the Glenn Miller Orchestra was released by RCA Victor Records as catalog number 20-2126. It first reached the Billboard magazine charts on February 21, 1947 and lasted 8 weeks on the chart, peaking at #3.
The recording by Guy Lombardo was recorded on December 13, 1946 and released by Decca Records as catalog number 23799. It first reached the Billboard magazine charts on February 14, 1947 and lasted 10 weeks on the chart, peaking at #4.
The recording by Dinah Shore was released by Columbia Records as catalog number 37234. It first reached the Billboard magazine charts on February 28, 1947 and lasted 8 weeks on the chart, peaking at #4.

Mozart - Requiem - Lacrimosa - 05/12: 217th anniversary of Mozart's death
![]() |
Aciklama: At the time of Mozart's death on 5 December 1791 he had only completed the opening movement (Requiem aeternam) in all of the orchestral and vocal parts. The following Kyrie (a double fugue), and most of the Sequence (from Dies Irae to Confutatis), is complete only in the vocal parts and the continuo (the figured organ bass), though occasionally some of the prominent orchestral parts have been briefly indicated, such as the violin part of the Confutatis and the musical bridges in the Recordare. The last movement of the Sequence, the Lacrimosa, breaks off after only eight bars and was unfinished. The following two movements of the Offertorium were again partially done -- the Domine Jesu Christe in the vocal parts and continuo (up until the fugue, which contains some indications of the violin part) and the Hostias in the vocal parts only.
*----------*-------------*-----------*-----------*
Lacrimosa dies illa
Qua resurget ex favilla
Judicandus homo reus.
Huic ergo parce, Deus:
Pie Jesu Domine,
Dona eis requiem. Amen
Tearful that day,
on which will rise from ashes
guilty man for judgment.
So have mercy, O Lord, on this man.
Compassionate Lord Jesus,
grant them rest. Amen.
